SJ Sounds is a series of five sound and written word installations, each focused on interconnected themes/issues within San Jose and the South Bay. These themes and issues will be developed between the sound designers and writers, who will then create a soundscape and short story. Audience members will be able to listen to the soundscapes and read a companion piece at a series of installations around San Jose.
More Más Marami Arts is partnering with Soundplay Media and other community organizations to create calls to action based around each soundscape and story. This project is funded by the Abierto Program, courtesy of the City of San Jose and our fiscal sponsors The School of Arts and Culture.
Join us Sunday March 13th to experience two soundscapes designed by Sean Emmett Thompson that will immerse you in a world enveloped in the theme of incarceration and firefighters. Then, read the companion stories by Elizabeth Jiménez Montelongo and Muse Lee to further dive into the present reality and the future present reality and the future possibilities on how our justice system treats the incarcerated who fight California’s fires.
Join us March 12th, from 11:00AM to 2:00PM to see Sean, Elizabeth, and Muse’s work.
