We’re excited to announce a slate of shows for our Trespass Theatre series! Trespass Theatre are productions we do outside of traditional spaces and in the neighborhoods that make up the South Bay.
We’ll be creating a Trespass Theatre Troupe for this season, where the actors will take some sort of role in each of the productions in various levels. We're doing this to provide some stability during this moment of COVID-19, as well as to build community between productions.
Performances and Time Expectations:
Rehearsals are expected to be at most three times a week, and a mix of in person and over Zoom. There will be two tech rehearsals the week of the performances. Exact dates and times of the rehearsals will be set by the entire community, meaning More Más Marami will put forward calendar ideas, and the directors, designers, and actors will confirm and make adjustments based on what is possible and equitable.
A Night of Shorts under the Perseids Meteor Shower, featuring Rea Kapur and others!
Performances: August 12 and 13.
Rehearsals beginning July 12.
In addition to these, there will be another short devised theatre piece based around the perception of weight and health in Silicon Valley (date to be determined) by Lauren Doyle, and an improv based installation based off of Kimberly Piet's work, that will be performed during First Fridays in Downtown San Jose. Both will have shorter rehearsal periods and lighter commitments than the first two productions.
Auditions:
Auditions will be on June 17, 18, and 19th, starting at 6:30pm and going until 10pm. The audition process will consist of sides to read, and the option to perform a monologue. If you’re interested in auditioning, please fill out this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdAjCnaI8hL8e-cL64HdyZYWY5AXOoP6cr1sj73rc_vkbhXGQ/viewform
Auditions will take place over Zoom.
Stipend:
Acting comes with a stipend of at least $100, with possibly more depending on ticket sales, donations and grants. More Más Marami Arts is dedicated to working towards paying its community a living, equitable wage, and to being transparent with our finances. All of our finances will be shared throughout the process. If you have any questions about payments, finances or anything else please reach out.
