Josh Nicolas

Born and Raised in Los Angeles equipped with his father’s old guitar at the age of 11, Joshua Nicolas, more known by his artistic moniker “CNIC” (pronounced “scenic”) taught himself to play, compose, and produce Music. 

CNIC’s music is composed primarily of instrumental pieces meant to create a mood and tell a story without words leaving the message up for interpretation by the listener.

Growing up in Los Angeles, he is Inspired by electronic music, classic rock, jazz, modern soul/R&B, and Latin music. An eclectic exposure to different types of music create and endless list of ingredients of inspiration for whatever projects are “cooking” in the studio. 

But the list goes on…

A key inspiration for CNIC’s work is that of Japanese Video Game menu music like that of Final Fantasy, Silent Hill, and Resident Evil. As well as Horror Movie composition from renowned composers like Joseph Bishara. 

The sound design, storytelling, and ability to maneuver emotions to the listener are a huge part of innovating his own style by creating imagery and cinematic storytelling within his sound pieces and bringing a “scene” to life; often telling his audience to take the “CNIC Route”

Aside from composition and production, Nicolas is also an active stage musician in which he plays both Electric Bass Guitar and Acoustic guitar with different artists throughout the Bay Area playing festivals , popular local venues, and online streaming events. 

CNIC continues to create different forms of sound and music, and is set to have new releases on the coming months which be available on all streaming services.
