SJ Sounds

SJ Sounds is a series of five sound and written word installations, each focused on interconnected themes/issues within San Jose and the South Bay. These themes and issues will be developed between the sound designers and writers, who will then create a soundscape and short story. Audience members will be able to listen to the soundscapes and read a companion piece at a series of installations around San Jose.

More Más Marami Arts is partnering with Soundplay Media and other community organizations to create calls to action based around each soundscape and story. This project is funded by the Abierto Program, courtesy of the City of San Jose and our fiscal sponsors The School of Arts and Culture.

Join us Saturday March 5th to experience two soundscapes designed by Mark Thompson that will immerse you in a world enveloped in the Reid Hillview Airport. Then, read the companion stories by Javier Mendoza and Jowy-Jhan Curameng to further dive into the present reality and the future ramifications of the lead-based fumes on the East Side San Jose community who live in the airport’s area.

Join us March 5th, from 10:00AM to 1:00PM to see Mark, Javier, and Jowy’s work.
